White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made a surprise announcement that she is leaving her job by the end of the month and entering a revised position in the Trump administration as an outside adviser.
Whatever the hell that means.
Leavitt’s announcement – disseminated by the President himself in a Truth Social post - comes as a complete surprise because she’s barely into the second full month of her return to work from maternity leave in June of this year. The bombastic blonde-haired fireball from Atkinson, New Hampshire is only 28 years old and is the youngest person to ever hold the position of White House Press Secretary.
She certainly performed the job with a rare enthusiasm that always included a distinct disdain for the mostly left-leaning DC press corps, which was always on display, front and center.
Famously, Leavitt once insulted a reporter who had dared to suggest that an ICE agent had acted recklessly, in reference to the horrific Renee Good assassination, and the soon to be ex-press secretary responded in outrage with “…you’re a biased reporter with a left-wing opinion…because you’re a left-wing hack. You’re not a reporter; you’re posing in this room as a journalist.”
Whew! But such white-hot exchanges were typical of Leavitt’s time in her role as Press Secretary. A tenure that was far more raucous, caustic and mean-spirted than was the norm for the press briefings of other administrations, including both Democrats and Republicans.
